Studio Loci have recently begun concept work on a sensory landscape for a new Hospice in Christchurch. We are currently in the process of abstracting ideas of an estuarine environment (Christchurch is geographically positioned adjacent to the lagoon and estuary of The River Avon and Stour). Our aim is not a literal recreation of this environment but to use it as a guideline for the layout, materiality, patterning, and planting of the project. We are aiming to combine this intial concept with Kadinsky and his ability to seamlessly link opposing shapes; we anticipate the curved lines representing nature and the esturary and hard lines representing the man made structures of moorings and ships.

Studio Loci have recently been given the privilege of developing a Landscape Strategy for the gardens at the Henry Moore Foundation Hoglands, Perry Green Hertfordshire. The focus is on re-establishing an authentic vision of the garden as envisioned by both Irina and Henry Moore.

On site for one of our private garden projects. Here our artisan colleague is working up a block of Hadspen Stone ready for a special water feature detail. We await the big reveal in a couple of years once the project is open to the public. Watch this space.

The recent media coverage of Hurricane Irma hitting the Caribbean and North American mainland has shown a trail of devastation; another random natural disaster or a growing trend resultant of global warming? Transcending the need for robust urban landscapes via sustainable design in our everyday lives has surely never been so in vogue?
