Park Village West, Nash Villas, Regents Park, London

This was our first major design project. The house is a listed building and forms part of the 'Garden City' Development designed by John Nash in the 1800s.  The garden design was sympathetic to the Nash style and included the restoration of period entrance steps, railing and terracing. The existing mature plane trees, sloping site and heavy clay soil created a considerable challenge

The wooded bank to the North East of the house was planted with shade tolerant shrubs and herbaceous plants. A timber walkway and cantilevered deck provides an exciting access to this area. The main garden and lawn is very private and is screened from the parking area and access road with dense planting reinforced by a bespoke hardwood trellis. A pink granite sett seating area is set off from the curving lawn and provides a focal point for an ornate seat; an ideal shaded corner for reading. The upper terraces are defined by painted render retaining walls and are laid with random Yorkstone paving. Curved entrance steps provide access to the house and demonstrate the skill of the stonemasons.
